Remembrance Service 2018

Date: 9th Nov 2018 @ 2:09pm

Remembering the fallen soldiers

Today the whole school visited the St. Oswald's to pay our respects to the soldiers who died in WW1 and WW2.  Father Robin and Reverend Emma led the service around the War Memorial. Children, school staff, parents and villagers observed a two minute silence to remember the dead.  A wreath of poppies was then laid on the memorial.

After the service, the children admired the poppies they made last month that were displayed inside the church.

Finally Class 4 walked to Private Halton's plaque and laid a wreath to remember his bravery. This was a fitting way to commemorate the end of World War One, one hundred years ago this weekend, as well as a memorable way to end Class 4's World War 2 topic.
