Pam De Feu (Foundation Governor and Vice Chair of Governors)
Role: SEC Committee
I was appointed as Foundation Governor in 2013 and currently serve on the SEC committee. As a retired head teacher of a local school I felt that becoming a governor would continue to make use of the expertise I have gained and my enthusiasm for education. I am particularly pleased to be able to serve as a governor for my local school.
I am a member of Carnforth Inner Wheel, Warton Crag WI, Warton Art and Craft Group. I attend St. Oswald’s Church and enjoy reading, cooking and crafting.
Jane Henderson ( Parent Governor)
Role: Chair SEC Committee / SEN Lead / Pay Committee
My name is Jane Henderson and I have been a parent governor at the school for some threeyears now. I have recently become chair of the Standards and Effectiveness committee. This committee monitors the quality of the curriculum and scrutinises attainment within the school.
I became involved with the governors as I currently have two children at the school. Being a teacher with over fifteen years experience, I am passionate about providing a quality education with high expectations and want to help the school to move forward.
Dr Colin Peacock (Local Authority Governor)
I have been a community governor for over ten years, appointed on the nomination of the Parish Council.
My three children all went to the school as have three grand-children, though two have moved on to Carnforth High School.
Now retired, formerly lecturer in chemistry at Lancaster University where I also ran Chemical Analysis Service for local business and community.
Present interests: gardening, especially growing food; cooking, wine-making, eating and drinking; natural world – do regular butterfly counts on Warton Crag; landscape and conservation, vice chair Arnside & Silverdale AONB Landscape Trust, have chaired National Association for AONBs; parish councils – Warton parish councillor for over 40 years, have been chairman of Lancashire Association and was secretary of Lancaster Area meeting; local and family history. I am now Lancashire County Rep on the National Association of Local Councils Council.
Terry Drake (Local Authority Governor)
Role: Personnel Committee / SEC Committee / Lead on Child Protection / Discipline Committee
I am the Local Education Authority (LEA) governor and I have been on the governing body for over 5 years. I became a governor because I wanted to support the school, the staff group and most importantly to support the young people and families to get the best experience that they can from the school, as your school days are the foundation for the future.I felt that I had useful experience, having worked in the public sector for over 20 years in services for young people with mental health difficulties and I have been involved in service developments, staff management, finance issues and management of risk. I am also a mental health nurse and CBT therapist (although no longer practising in these roles).
I am married (to a teacher in the school), have one daughter and I am a keen sports fan (especially local football and Liverpool FC!!!)
Fr Damian Porter ( Foundation Governor)
Role: Personnel Committee / SEC Committee / SEAL Lead / Appeals and Pay Committee.
I’m Fr Damian Porter, Vicar of St Oswald’s Church, Warton, and I am one of three Foundation Governors.
I am keen to maintain the special links we enjoy with school, church and wider community, helping to encourage the Christian ethos of Archbishop Hutton School.
I regularly attend worship/assemblies, and sometimes lead them. In addition to my roles on the personnel and curriculum committees, I have helped with back up for RE provision, school trips, reading to children, governor for SEAL and providing an extra pair of hands for various school activities, and help with support and pastoral care for children, staff, parents and families.
